What Simon brings

Senior freelance and interim Product Owner who takes on product ownership himself and delivers working software, not advice from the sidelines. 22+ years of experience, 25+ products, 9 industries, teams of 7 to 46 people in the Netherlands and India, four times a management team member with P&L responsibility. Has been building products since age thirteen (Maffia World, 2004, built by himself in PHP and MySQL) and is co-founder of MyDish. Product leader at Iddink, PinkRoccade and The Learning Network; since 2021 a specialist at Vattenfall, Orthocenter, Mileway and ABN AMRO (through IBM/Kyndryl), among others.

Feb 2023 – present Vattenfall Amsterdam

Senior Product Owner Home Energy Management & eMobility B2C

• Three consecutive, clearly scoped engagements: the eMobility sales chain and the team (from 2023), Smart Charging and the eMobility suite (2024 to early 2026) and since 2026 the Home Energy Management platform with Kraken.
• Built a greenfield DevOps team from 0 to 7 FTE within four weeks, including recruitment and onboarding (now 8).
• Delivered 2 of the 3 Vattenfall NL product launches of 2024: the charging station configurator and Smart Charging via the car. Introduced the Partner API, onto which Louwman connected; 50% of all Vattenfall charging station sales now run through the partner channel.
• Smart charging built on Jedlix, the first active control feature in the Vattenfall app, later extended with charger-controlled charging via OCPP between Jedlix and Road. Between 30 December 2023 and 28 August 2026 the charging products carried 377,337 charging sessions and 7.19 GWh, 59% of it smart charged.

Apr 2020 – Jul 2023 MyDish B.V. Utrecht

Co-founder, Director & Senior Product Owner

• His own concept: a digital table session where every guest orders on their own phone and the restaurant receives one table order. Live in the summer of 2020.
• Management team member and director; built a product organisation from 0 to 9 across development, design and data science; platform in TypeScript on Google Cloud with Adyen for Platforms.
• Cut waiting staff’s administrative time by 40 to 60%, timed and validated across several types of hospitality venue; measured in-house, tips at participating venues rose by 15%.
• Partnerships with Lightspeed POS, Adyen, Lavazza and VHC food service wholesale; reseller network set up.

Apr 2018 – Aug 2021 Iddink Group (Sanoma Learning) Amersfoort and Hyderabad

Software Development Manager & Senior Product Owner

• Management team member with budget (P&L) and HR responsibility for four DevOps teams: 27 Dutch and 19 Indian remote members (46 in total).
• Implemented SAFe: PI Planning events, PO syncs, system demos and retrospectives across four teams in two countries.
• Delivered DMCT/JIT, DUOstubs and IddinkHub. DMCT/JIT handles daily peaks of tens of millions of requests for 600,000+ students and saved millions of euros in licence costs across the education chain through a new licensing model; DUOstubs enabled two-week releases.
• Backlog of thousands of items drastically reduced through pressure-cooker sessions and organised into four quadrants: legislation, bugs, optimisation, new functionality.

Apr 2017 – Mar 2018 PinkRoccade Healthcare Apeldoorn

Lead Product Owner, management team member

• P&L responsibility for the business unit: four on-premise custom products (DRP, Bomas, VILA and ProCare) with one DevOps team across four product lines at once, in Cobol and partly React.
• Introduced Design First: contractual customer commitment before development starts.
• 1,600 PBIs and bugs at entry reduced through pressure-cooker sessions to 150 usable stories on the roadmap.

• Three Scrum teams led on product content.
• From #21 to #7 in the Twinkle100 (2015 to 2016), as PO on three product lines at an e-commerce player with 300 million euros in annual revenue.
• Fully new Azure cloud e-commerce platform with SSO and GDPR/security as hard requirements.
• Bundle platform for open-book exams live, in co-creation with UMCG/RuG; SAFe PI Planning and alignment with Kennisnet, Surf, saMBO-ICT and publishers.
